Bio:
I’ve been teaching guitar for 16 years I’ve taught at Oak Park Elementary and at San Diego State. Aside from performing, I really enjoy showing people how to play music, everyone is different so I adapt to each student I teach. I teach Classical Guitar, How to read music and charts, Rock, Brazilian drums, Reggae and other styles. Currently teaching at Music Mart in Solana Beach on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Tuesdays I have availavle 3 to 4pm Saturdays I have openings from 10:30am to 4pm
I started playing in a kids band when I was 7 in Tijuana (Banda Infantil del Dif). We would play for schools, orphanages and had a weekly gig at the old Presidente hotel. I picked up the classical guitar when I was 10. We moved to the U.S in 1989 and joined the drum line in high school (carlsbad). In college I got into the guitar ensembles (Palomar, San Diego State). Started playing at cafe sevilla in 1996 with 2 brazilian bands (Josias Dos Santos Sambrasil and Mark Lamson's Sol e Mar). From here I started playing gypsy guitar with David de Alba and Novamenco). Then I joined the group Agua Dulce and got into salsa and timba. I toured for 2 and a half years the midwest with Agua Dulce. Now I have my own group where i can blend all of my experiences in one show (Brazilian, Salsa, Gypsy, funk, reggae, Classical, rock etc) And I'm starting to mess with electronic music also. Throughout the years I've opened for acts like, Nikka Costa, Los Amigos Invisibles, Ivan Lins, Sergio Mendes, Charlie Hunter, Elefante. The band is an all star cast. Chad Farran on percussion, David Carrano on Bass, Dante Loaiza on Vocals guitar and percussion and a special guest every time. Past guests include Dante Loaiza from Agua Dulce, Carlos Washington, Chuck Prada, Mark Lamson, Ignacio Arango.
